John Attardo began as a peddler of fine linens back in the 1913, pounding the streets of Boston, before making his way to Toronto in 1949. As the influx of immigrants into the west boomed, the company's industrious founder left Italy for North America, in hopes of making a better life for his family. Recognizing the growing demand for delicate and quality linens, John decided to take the next step and opened his first location in Hamilton in 1955. John then made his mark in Toronto, when he opened a location on the Danforth in 1967. In 1972 and a generation later, John's four son's established the name Yongetex and opened a distribution center on Caledonia Rd. There they expanded their fathers business and began distributing fine linens across Canada, solidifying their reputation nationwide. The company now on its third generation of family, still operates with the same ideals set forth by its founder. While operating on three tiers; national accounts, independent retailers, interior designers and decorators.
